Thank you for this explanation. I need to find a charter bus service fora group trip, and I have been having a hard time understanding where all the money is going. I had no idea that there was a limit on how long a driver could drive. We are planning an out of state trip, so I think we would need to have a driver change. Does that mean we will have two drivers on the bus, or does the replacement meet us when the switch needs to be made?

Message *I think the charter buses would be so fun for a big road trip! I love how the whole group can be together enjoying each other’s company without being separated into tons of little cars. It’s probably worth the cost because you just take what it would cost to drive tons of smaller cars lots of places into this one price!

Thanks for that tip on the average per hour rate being $100. I didn’t that there was an average minimum of 5 hours too, though. That’s actually not that much if you can split the cost between 30+ people.

Thanks for the interesting read on how to read one’s charter bus quote! I liked that you mentioned how charter drivers are only allowed to drive for 10 hours then they have to rest for 8 consecutive hours. That is kind of reassuring to learn since we can be at ease that our drivers are getting enough rest and won’t be sleepy while on the road. That should help us be safe and avoid potential accidents. I’ll try to look into these charter bus’ rental first before hiring one for our trip next year.
